The Roswell Jr. Hornet Cross Country program is open to grades 6-8th. The emphasis will be on introducing students to cross country in a fun and enjoyable manner. The goal of our team is to run 2 miles without stopping, and to learn how to race in a Cross Country meet.
Meets: The team will compete in 4-5 meets against other middle school teams. Team members are responsible for their own transportation to and from meets. Most meets will be on Saturday mornings or Friday night. Runners will need black shorts for meets. *Meet schedule will be available soon.

Practice Information: Mini Camp: We will begin the season this year with an "optional" mini camp - Dates are TBD 8:00- 9:30 am at Sweet Apple Park. Practice: Practices will be begin July 29th. They will be twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-7 pm at Sweet Apple park and they will run through the season. Where: Practices will be held at Sweet Apple Park. We will meet at the soccer parking lot. Please check in at table by concession stand. Mileage: Our goal is to have the runners log 1 to 3 miles at each practice. They will run 2 miles in meets and we will work on improving our running times throughout the season. Wear: Comfortable and cool running clothes and most importantly GOOD running shoes! Runners will need black shorts for meets. I recommend The Big Peach running store for a shoe fitting, mention that you are a Cross Country runner and they will give you a discount. Bring: WATER! Please make sure you have enough for the whole practice. Practice Ends: @ 7:00 and have your parents pick you up by the concession stand.
Practices last 1 hour and consist of running instruction, training, drills, relays, and games.
